The findings of this study proved what those working with the homeless already knew: gender and violence play key roles in the lives of homeless women. The authors investigated how many homeless women had experienced violence in their lives, either as children or as adults, and then looked at factors associated with experiences of violence, the consequences of violence, and also the types of interactions these homeless women had with the justice system.
